The Manager of Executive Communications reflects the mission, vision, and values of the University of Chicago Medical Center and Biological Sciences Division, adheres to the organizations Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.
The Manager of Executive Communications is responsible for drafting, researching, writing, editing and proofreading oral and written communications, including presentations and speeches, from the University of Chicago Medical Centers Chief Executive Officer and Dean of the Biological Sciences Division to internal and external audiences. These oral or written communications serve to advance the Medical Center and Biological Sciences Divisions strategic communication goals in relationship to the Universitys goals. The Manager of Executive Communications also will serve as a resource for Senior Leadership for both the Medical Center and Biological Sciences Division and assist as needed with their oral or written communications. The Manager of Executive Communications is a member of the senior staff advancing the reputation and overall communications of the Medical Center and BSD, working in close collaboration with Medical Center, BSD and University Senior Leadership, the Board of Trustees, and members of the Medical Center and University communication teams.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Qualified candidates must have a bachelors degree in journalism, communications, public relations or English. Qualified candidates must have a minimum of ten years professional experience in an academic, healthcare or communications environment. Excellent writing, editing, proofreading, and project management. Proven ability to write for both academic and non-academic audiences. Research and strong organizational skills are required, as is a demonstrated ability to work autonomously. Exercises a high degree of judgment and diplomacy and an impeccable commitment to confidentiality. Interpersonal skills are essential.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Masters degree in journalism or integrated communications. Experience in medicine, biological sciences and medical center communications.
