 Job Description

General Summary

Under general supervision the Sr. Benefits Administrator will coordinate the administration of employee benefits programs. Maintain benefit records and documents, assist in preparation of benefit communication material and develop analysis of benefit data and reports to ensure benefit programs are administered in an equitable manner.


Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

* Develop and maintain reports to audit the processing of areas of accountability. Scrub and review non-discrimination data to submit to TIAA for the discrimination tests. Complete various data transmission to vendors.
* Ensure all automated processes for areas of accountability support and are consistent with compliance regulations applicable to benefits. Understand each process and trouble-shoot if there are problems with reporting.
* Ensure all communication material is updated. Compile hard copy documentation binders for areas of accountabilities.
* Maintain copies of plan documents (Plan Document, SPDs). Compile copies of Recent Compliance Records 5500s, Non-Discrim Testing.
* Develop and maintain process mapping of procedures for primary areas of responsibility. Work with HRIS to ensure processes are running smooth and plan compliance for areas of accountability is adhered to consistently.
* Support benefits annual enrollment process. Ensure hard copy materials are consistent with plan documents and internal processes.
* Escalate issue resolution to Managers if vendors are not administering plans as dictated by agreements.
* Conduct New Employee Orientation for benefits sections as needed.
* Project management activity for various benefit initiatives dealing with total pay and benefits.
* Perform other duties as assigned.


 Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

* 3-5 years progressive experience in benefits.
* Possess progressive experience in benefits administration.
* Hands on expertise and thorough knowledge of benefit administration regulations including ERISA, FMLA, IRS, FLSA, HIPPA, section 125 and COBRA regulations.
* Must be able to review complex benefit plans and processes to determine efficient utilization of processes as well as communicate impact to or with various levels of constituents in an accurate, timely and professional manner.
* Prior hands on experience with enterprise platform such as SAP or Peoplesoft or other sophisticated HRIS system.

Preferred Requirements:

* Bachelor's degree
* Experience with 403(b) and non-profit benefit plans preferred.
* Ideal candidate will have ability to interface and communicate in a clear and concise manner with staff, faculty, vendors and other personnel associated with the university.
* Ideal candidate will possess a CEBS certification.
