 Job Description

This hourly position requires flexibility with shift work, weekends, and overtime. This position reports into the Premedia Technologies group. The Premedia Technologies group provides prepress services to the retail, catalog-sales and direct mail markets. Premedia specializes in providing high quality digital premedia solutions.

Responsibilities:

" Knowledge of prepress, design and printing including familiarity with layout, trim, bleed, safety and an understanding of the ripping process (Export-Distill or PostScript-RIP).

" Extensive knowledge of the Adobe Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat, Illustrator), Quark Express, and Microsoft Office software applications.

" Process image deviations on a novice to intermediate scale of complexity. This includes cloning and composites.

" Annotate and evaluate image deviations to Premedia Technologies platform. This includes sending files and paperwork.

" Process image color corrections with QA or customer provided directions (Curves).

" Process pages or make edits on pages from start to finish with minimum recycles.

" Load new jobs and view completed jobs.

" Understanding of RRD Policies, Standard SOP's and SP's.

" Understanding of all RRD hardware (TWiST / MB / FTP) and software.

" Update job logs accordingly and communicate any special job needs to the team.

" Load jobs into RRD systems with a full understanding of requirements and procedures.

" Image manipulation skills and/or Page construction skills with full understanding of layer usage.

" Interact with customer as needed regarding customer requirements.

* 2-3 years of experience in InDesign, PhotoShop, Illustrator, Quark and other desktop publishing software.
* 2-3 years of experience building or constructing pages in Quark or InDesign.
* Excellent organization skills.
* Attention to detail.
* Good communication skills in a team environment.
* Understanding of layout and printing requirements.
* Must possess the ability to produce independently in a team environment.
* Ability to identify inconsistencies in any given publication or document.
* Good trouble shooting knowledge.Proactive in all aspects of prepress operations.
